Hannan's Bellydance Studio presents a stellar weekend of Egyptian Dance! Workshops and show with Mohammed El Hosseny First time in Canada! also featuring workshops with Hannan Sultan Mohammed El Hosseny is a fantastic artist of Egyptian folk and belly dance. He was a leading dancer in the world-famous Reda Troupe. Currently, he resides in Finland where he has built a large and successful school of Middle Eastern Dance. He produces fantastic spectacles which play to sold-out audiences. His technique, expertise, and charismatic performances are unparalleled. Nada is thrilled to share this amazing example of great Egyptian dance with the Canadian audience.

Doors open at 8pm, show starts at 8:30pm.   Sunday, October 5th: 2 two hour workshops - Bellydance Straight From Cairo's Heart with Mohammed El Hosseny, 3:30pm to 8:30pm (with a one hour lunch) at the Lithuanian House.   Monday, October 6th: Master Class with Mohammed El Hosseny, time to be announced, limited spaces available.

Sunday Assessments by Hannan - MAY 11th @ 1:30pm
We conduct an assessment for students who wish to move into a higher level. This happens on the second to last Sunday of each session. Students receive detailed feedback. Contact us for the upcoming date and details. $24 at the door.

Hafla - May 2 Join Hannan, the Sultanettes, and select student performers for an initmate evening. Hannan will be performing a complete improvised Oriental/bellydance suite. Limited spaces available. AZIZA of Montreal / Portland is one of the leading belly dance instructors and performers in the world. Students rave about her motivational workshops, insightful feedback, and fantastic choreography.

One day public workshop in Toronto- isolation and shimmy technique & drum solo choreography. Sunday August 5th @ Estonian House, 958 Broadview Avenue.

The workshop will run from 11am - 4pm (with 1 hour for lunch). Please bring lunch.

Cabaret 101 will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 7pm in the studio. Cabaret 101 features student soloists and groups as well as instructors from the studio. Performance spaces are still available for students from Hannan's Studio.

Make-Up for Bellydance us for a hands-on lesson on creating a stunning face with style specific for bellydance. Melissa was Hannan's make-up artisit for her forthcoming DVD as well as for the photo series in the white costume. We'll learn special techniques for applying make-up that will stay on while you sweat and accentuate all of your best features. A must for performers of all levels! 2-4:30, $35 advance, $45 at the door. Stick around for Cabaret 101!

Toronto Bellydance Spring Recital - 8:00pm Friday, April 28 The TorontoBellydance student recital is Friday, April 28 starting at 8pm at (please note new location) Holy Name Church, 71 Gough Ave, Pape and Danforth intersection. Buy tickets in advance from Hannan or Roula $10 or at the door for $15

Specialty Class with Hannan Saturday May 27 - Kick Ass Drills and Saucy Combos - We'll practice drills to enhance and improve isolations and coordination. Then Hannan will teach you cute (and complicated!) belly dance combinations 1-3:30pm at Hannan's Studio - 71 Gough Ave. at Pape and Danforth. $35 advance, $45 at the door

Veil with Katy March 24 1-3pm Katy will be teaching beautiful veil technique for bellydance. She'll be teaching basics, moves, and combinations. Space is limited to 8!

Saidi with Nada April 8 1-3pm Nada, from the world famous Reda Troupe of Egypt, will be teaching Saidi style (upper Egyptian) folkloric dancing. This is a fun and upbeat style. The Saidi rhythms and movements are frequently used in bellydance.
Workshops are $35 each in advance, $45 at the door.

CABARET 101 Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30pm
$7 at Hannan's Studio of Middle Eastern Dance
This is a casual gathering at the studio featuring student solo performances. It is designed to give students regular performance opportunities. There is nothing like the practical experience of pulling a piece together and dancing in front of an audience! All bellydance students are welcome to attend with friends. Student dancers of any level are invited to perform, please contact Hannan in advance to sign-up.

Seasonal SOIREE
On Wednesday, December 7 at Lula Lounge, the students and teachers from TorontoBellydance were joined by our bellydance friends (what a great crowd!) to celebrate the season while raising almost $900 for Sistering (www.sistering.org).
We had a blast! We were treated to delicious canapes by Lula's, great Arabic music from DJ Tony, and fantastic performances by Marion, Marie, Janey, Meggie, Eden, Kathy, Tina, and Shu'la. Additionally, the crowd gave it up for Hannan and a very saucy Mrs. Claus (aka Roula). We were all blown away by the amazing skills of our special guest for the evening, Valizan!

Bellydance Swap Meet
The bellydance swap meet on December 11th at Hannan's Studio was a great time! We had costumes, scarves, Belly dancing Barbies by Linda, cds, books, and lots of odds and ends! Everyone came away with a fantastic bargain find, and it was just a lot of fun to hang out, eat too much chocolate, and try on fantastic costumes. We'll do it again soon!
